The Laboratory of Gastroenterology and Hepatology focusses on molecular and immunological aspects of the development, diagnosis, progression and treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases and carcinogenesis of the digestive tract, in particular within the colon, oesophagus, the stomach and the liver. Besides basic studies, the research conducted in the Laboratory has a strong translational character, ultimately aimed at allowing better intervention and prevention strategies to treat diseases.
